In 1977, two very strange sounds were recorded from Point Nemo. Their frequency was very low while the amplitude was very high. These were recorded by the radar of the US Atmospheric Administration. But the surprising thing is that the same sounds were also recorded in other radars 5000 km away. After calculations, the location of these sounds was estimated and it was found that they were generated inside the sea in a remote area of the South Pacific Ocean.
At that time, these sounds were named Bloop and research was started on what these terrifying sounds were. Obviously, these sounds should have been of something very big. But nothing like this was found in this part of the sea. For many years, it was believed that some very big divine creature lives under this part of the sea. But after 2012, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration changed its stamp and said that the sounds recorded in 1977 were generated due to the movement of glaciers.

There is a part of the sea in the South Pacific Ocean, on all four sides of which there is no land for thousands of miles. It is also called Oceanic Pole as well as Point Nemo. The nearest piece of land from here is about 2688 km away and this nearest piece is also of no use. Because it is South Pole i.e. Antarctica. The nearest populated land from Point Nemo is the coastal part of Chile which is 3334 km away. While on the other side is New Zealand which is 4700 km away. This is the reason why Point Nemo is considered the most desolate part of the world.
Point Nemo is so desolate that the nearest humans here are not on land but surprisingly the astronauts sitting in the International Space Station. Which passes 400 km above Point Nemo once or twice a day. Despite being cut off from the world, Point Nemo is not without purpose. Under this part of the ocean, there are also those inventions of humans for which money was once spent like water. Yes, Point Nemo is a graveyard of pieces of broken satellites, spacecrafts and rockets.

Point Nemo is spread over an area of 22 crore square kilometers in the South Pacific Ocean. This is such a large area that even the world’s largest country Russia can fit in it. Despite that, there will be enough space left to fit five countries like Egypt. But there is no human population in this area spread over 22 crore square kilometers. Forget humans, many sea creatures cannot survive here even under water. Researchers believe that the conditions here are very challenging. In which it can be difficult for sea life to survive.
Point Nemo is located in a very remote and deep area of the South Pacific Ocean. Where the temperature of the water is cold and there are almost no nutrients. Point Nemo is at a place where there is a lack of nutrients due to the fast flow of water. Water keeps moving round and round in this part of the ocean. That is, the water from other parts of the Pacific Ocean cannot flow here properly. Due to which there is a lack of nutrients here. Wherever there are less nutrients, there are also less plankton and other microscopic organisms. Which become the reason for the food chain.
The depth of the ocean in this area is about 3700 meters or 12100 feet. It is impossible for sunlight to reach this depth. Therefore, photosynthesis cannot take place here. That is, if there is any sea life here, then it can be deep sea organisms like Squids, Bioluminescence, Saint Fish and other deep sea creatures. Which can survive in extreme conditions.
3) Discovery
In 1992, for the first time a Canadian engineer discovered Point Nemo by doing various mathematical calculations. This place is so remote that the person who discovered this point could not even visit it. After 9 years, in 2001, for the first time it was used by the Russian Space Agency. Because Point Nemo is that part of the ocean which comes in international waters. That is, no country owns it. For this reason, various space agencies of the world do not have to take permission from anyone to drop their space objects here.
In 23 March 2001 Russian Space Station Mir was launched and now it was not capable of remaining on the mission for a long time. Then the Russian Space Agency de-orbited it i.e. removed it from the Earth’s orbit and dropped it at Point Nemo. After Mir, other space agencies also found this place very suitable and now they also use it for dumping spacecraft. In the last 23 years, this graveyard kept on increasing and today there is debris of more than 260 spacecrafts under Point Nemo.
2) Use
Another International Space Station is also going to be buried in Point Nemo. Because according to NASA, the life of ISS is till 2030. It will be decommissioned before that. Satellites or spacecrafts are made in a very precise manner. Even after spending millions of dollars, they are not made to last forever.
Just like the expiry date of various products is written at the time of manufacturing. Similarly, objects revolving in space also have an expiry date and after that expiry date it is very important to voluntarily crash them. If this is not done, then the spacecraft can go out of control and go out of orbit and fall on the ground in an uncontrolled manner.
In 1978, Cosmos 954, which was a Soviet satellite, had some problem and its contact with the base station was lost. Now that satellite became uncontrollable and remained in its orbit for some time. But finally, after several months, it came out of orbit and started moving towards the ground. What was feared happened. It made an uncontrolled entry into the earth. But the biggest danger was not its going out of control but the nuclear reactor present in it. Due to which this satellite got power. This satellite burned to ashes in the sky itself. But the radioactive material spread all over North Canada.
After that an operation was started whose sole purpose was to search and clean this radioactive material. This was the biggest operation of its kind. Which was named Operation Morning Light. Luckily no one was harmed in this. But after this accident, the world got a glimpse of the harm of running satellites through nuclear means.
Apart from this, in 1997, Lottie Williams, who belonged to Oklahoma, was walking in the park when suddenly something fell on her shoulder. It was found that it was a piece of Delta II rocket. Which disintegrated while entering the atmosphere miles away. Lottie Williams was not hurt in this accident. But this accident opened everyone’s eyes. To avoid such incidents in the future, space objects are dropped only on deserted parts of the ocean. Until Point Nemo was discovered. Even before this, this work was done in the Pacific Ocean or remote areas of the land.
Whenever a satellite or spacecraft has to be crashed, it is first removed from the orbit with the help of thrusters installed in it. Even after removing it from the orbit, it keeps revolving around the Earth for the next several months and gradually it also comes closer to the ground. Engineers calculate very carefully when, where, at what time and in what position the thrusters are to be activated. Before entering the Earth’s atmosphere, the thrusters are activated again. Due to which its direction is made towards Point Nemo.
Because there is no air and pressure in space. Due to this, there is no friction of any kind. Satellites which are in their orbit do not leave their orbit for the next several months without power. Their speed is very high. Normally 15000 km per hour. When they enter the atmosphere at this speed, due to friction their temperature rises to 3000 degrees Celsius and they take the shape of a fireball.
This temperature melts the metal in them and turns them into ashes and in most cases the debris evaporates before falling. But sometimes some debris also falls on the ground. If it falls on the population, it can cause huge damage. This is the reason why they are targeted on the 22 crore square kilometer area of Point Nemo and humans are kept safe from its damage.

Talking about the name, Nemo is a Latin word. Which means no one. Because neither humans live here nor marine creatures and this location is such that even ships do not pass through here. Vessals avoid such locations where it is difficult to get help in case of a problem. If you ever get stuck in the point nemo then it will take two weeks for help to come here through ship and there are only a few helicopters in the whole world that can travel up to 3000 km and there is no guarantee that they can cover a distance of 3000 km without refueling.
