Top5 Secret Points Of Flight 123 Crash That Expose It Truth

Japan Airlines Flight 123 takes off from Tokyo to Osaka. No one on board knew that they were on a flight that was taking them straight to their death. 12 minutes after take-off, when the plane reaches a height of 24000 feet, a massive explosion occurs in the plane and the rear part of the plane breaks off from the plane. Due to which the plane goes out of control. All the control systems of the plane stop working. Due to which the pilots are reduced to mere spectators in their own plane.

All the passengers on the plane panic. No one could understand what had happened in the plane. The plane moves very fast towards a hill in front. There was very little time and the mountain was just a few minutes away. The plane was echoing with the screams of people. The pilots were trying their best to control the plane. But the plane was moving very fast towards that hill. What happened to this plane and why it happened, we will know in detail in today’s article. So let’s begin.

5) Mistake

Flight 123 Mistake

12 August 1985 Boeing 747 which was being operated by Japan Airlines. There were 509 passengers and 15 crew members on this plane. This was a domestic flight. Which was to go from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Osaka. This is one of the busiest routes of Japan. Thousands of passengers travel on this route every day. All the 524 people present in this flight had no idea that they were going to travel in a plane in which a weakness has been hidden for the last many years. Which is growing like a cancer with time and can explode anytime like a time bomb. No one has noticed this weakness till now.

The command of this flight was in the hands of three experienced people. The captain of this flight was 49-year-old Masami Takahama who had 12500 hours of flying experience. The first officer on this flight was Yutaka Sasaki who had 4000 hours of flying experience. This was going to be a special flight for him. Because after this flight he was going to get the status of captain. The flight engineer of this plane was Hiroshi Fukuda who had 10000 hours of experience. Overall, it can be said that all the people on this plane were in safe hands. But today something was going to happen on this plane for wich neither anyone had thought of it.

It was evening time, the plane races on the runway to take off and it takes off at 6:24 pm. The weather was very bad that day. So the captain decided to take the plane through another route over the sea. This was going to be a very short journey for this plane. So small that as soon as this plane reaches its high altitude of 24000 feet, it immediately starts coming down to land. The plane flies over the Tokyo and turns towards Osaka. Initially everything goes well according to plan in this plane.

As this plane rises, the atmospheric pressure inside the plane decreases. It is a natural thing that the higher you go from the surface of the earth, the thinner the atmosphere of the earth becomes. Due to which the atmospheric pressure decreases. When the plane goes to a height, the air pressure is increased in it by the engines of the plane. So that there is no problem in sitting and breathing in the plane. Something similar happened with Japan Airlines Flight 123.

As the plane was increasing in height. Similarly, the pressure inside the plane was also being increased. Let me tell you that whenever a plane is at a height, the air pressure inside the plane increases and the air pressure outside is very low. This is the reason why the structure of the plane is made so strong that the plane would not get blast due to air pressure. This Boeing 747 plane of Japan Airlines was flying continuously for the last 11 years. But nobody noticed that there is a big weakness in the rear part of the plane.

Actually, about 7 years before this flight, a small accident happened with this plane. It was in the year 1978 when this plane was landing on the runway during a routine flight. Then the rear part of the plane collided with the runway. Due to this accident, 25 passengers sitting in this plane were also injured. Out of which two passengers were also seriously injured. But luckily no life was lost in this accident. Due to this accident, the rear part of the plane gets damaged. Due to which this plane has been discontinued from service for some time and it has been repaired.

After repairing, this plane starts flying again like before. But now the plane was not like before. The problem was that when this plane was repaired, some flaws were left in it. Due to which, every time this plane flew after repair, the rear part of the plane was becoming more and more weak. This weakness of the plane was hidden from everyone’s eyes.

4) Accident

Flight 123 Accident

Due to this weakness, a big incident was about to happen on this plane. Due to the increase in pressure inside the plane during the flight, the rear part of the plane had become very weak. Due to which, today when this plane reaches its high altitude, a blast occurs due to the pressure in its rear part and the pressurized air present inside the plane comes out of the plane. The plane opens completely from the back. Due to this blast, the radar and other necessary control systems installed at the back of the plane also fly into the air.

All the things inside the plane that were not be tied start coming out from the hole. Seeing this scene inside the plane, all the passengers start screaming out of fear. People were not able to understand what happened suddenly. Due to the opening of the rear part of the plane, the air pressure inside the plane decreases completely. Due to which the passengers start having difficulty in breathing. All the passengers wear their own oxygen masks. All the passengers were very scared.

Here, alarms start ringing in the cockpit. The pressure inside the plane was showing as zero on the control panel in front of them. The captain decides to go back to Tokyo and land immediately. The captain sets the transponder to broadcast the distance signal and asks the first officer to turn the plane to the right. The pilot asks ATC for permission to make an emergency landing and turns the plane to the right towards Tokyo. But as soon as the plane turns to the right, the plane starts tilting.

The pilots tried hard to straighten the plane but the problem was that the hydraulic system that works to control the plane had failed. Failure of the hydraulic system meant that the pilots were now just passengers in their own plane. They could only see the plane moving but they could no longer control it. In other words, failure of the hydraulic system means death.

When the pilots told ATC about their system failure, ATC understood that this was not an emergency landing in which the plane was being landed because of a sick person or a faulty engine. Rather, this was a serious emergency in which the entire plane had gone out of control. The Tail Fan at the back of the plane are meant to give stability to the plane so that the plane can fly properly in a particular direction. But this Tail Fan of Flight 123 had already blown off. Due to which the plane was swinging in the air. Just like a leaf falling from a tree. This kind of situation is called Dutch Roll.

Now the problem was that without controls, the plane was now moving like a Roller Coaster. Due to which sometimes the plane would suddenly start rising very high in the air and sometimes it would start falling down very fast. The plane was stuck in a strange kind of Roller Coaster Motion. It was not possible to control it even by experienced pilots without controls. Every passenger on the plane could now clearly see death.

3) Pilot’s Duty

Flight 123 Pilot's Duty

Now the problem was that the pilots became so busy controlling the plane that they did not even remember to wear their oxygen masks. Due to which the pilots started suffering from Hypoxia. Their brain started going into a state of unconsciousness and their thinking ability was decreasing. ATC also called the pilots. But due to Hypoxia, the pilots did not respond to ATC’s calls. The airport was vacated for the landing of the plane. But the plane could be landed only when the pilots were able to control the plane.

The pilots could only control the speed of the engines of the plane. The pilots now started controlling the plane with the help of the engines and after a lot of trial and errors, the roller coaster motion of the plane was controlled to a great extent. The plane had now come into stable motion. All the passengers sitting in the plane also started feeling that now they had a hope of survival. Now the pilots also started responding to the calls of ATC. ATC asked the pilots to land at Nagoya Airport. Because that airport was closer to them.

The pilots refused to land at Nagoya Airport. Because Nagoya was a small airport. The pilots asked ATC to land at Haneda Airport only. Because it was a very big airport and there were a lot of emergency facilities available on it. The pilots did not want to put any passenger on the plane in trouble under any circumstances. The pilots believed that if they could not make an emergency landing properly, then at least they could make the plane have a controlled crash on the big runway of Haneda Airport.

The pilots had come to know that something had gone wrong in the plane. But the pilots sitting in the cockpit were still unaware of what damage had actually happened to the plane. So to assess the situation, the flight engineer spoke to the flight attendant on the phone. The flight attendant told him that the rear part of the plane has broken and the baggage compartment has collapsed and all the passengers has wear their oxygen masks.

Till now the pilots in the cockpit were so busy handling this situation that they had not worn an oxygen mask. Due to which their brain was slowly becoming a victim of Hypoxia. They started reducing the height of the plane with the help of engines. In which they gradually started getting success. The plane slowly started coming down. Now the crew of the plane had also realized that they could land it only with the help of engines. But the destination was still far away. All the passengers present in the plane were able to seeing Mount Fuji passing below.

The plane had made the pilots feel for only a short time that it was under their control. But in reality it was not so. The plane was still flying in a roller coaster as if the wings of a bird had been cut. Those who were standing on the ground and watching this plane flying, they said that while this plane was flying, it seemed as if a bird was flying drunk. They also took some photos of this plane in which it can be clearly seen that the radar of the plane is missing.

In such a situation, the pilots were ready to do anything to save the lives of every person on the plane. They thought of lowering the landing gear of the plane so that the plane could come under control a little. But the problem was that all the control buttons in the cockpit had become mere decorations in the cockpit. Because hydraulic power was also required to lower the landing gear. But the good thing was that with the help of gravity, the landing gear could still be lowered without hydraulic power. So the pilots lowered the landing gear using this method.

However, this did not help, rather the Dutch Rolling of the plane increased. Now the pilots were completely disappointed. But they did not give up hope and kept struggling to control the plane. The pilots wanted to turn the plane towards Tokyo. For this, they ran the left side engine of the plane at high speed and the right side engine at low speed. So that the plane could turn towards Tokyo. The good thing was that by doing this the plane turned towards Tokyo and the height of the plane was also gradually decreasing.

The pilot’s brain was completely exhausted while controlling the plane and due to hypoxia they were not able to understand what to do next. They was not able to take any decision. So they slowed down the power of all the engines. Due to which the plane started coming down rapidly. The plane came down but after coming down the danger for it increased even more. Because the plane was moving straight towards the mountain ranges and rapidly. If the plane was not lifted up, the plane would directly collide with the mountain.

To prevent this collision, the pilots ran all the engines of the plane with full power. But it was very difficult to control the plane without hydraulic controls. It was not possible to do this with the help of engines only. But there was no other option. The pilots tried their best to lift the plane up. But the plane was moving downwards at a fast speed. The first officer suggested why not control the plane through flaps.

The large blades on the wings of the plane are called flaps. These are used for landing and take off of the plane. It was not possible to control the flaps without hydraulic power. But the good thing was that these flaps could be controlled a little bit through the backup electrical system of the plane. The pilots started lowering the flaps through the backup electrical system. The advantage of which was that the roller coaster movement of the plane was now almost under control.

Now after the emergency, it was the first time that the plane seemed to be completely under control. The pilot’s brain was also working well now. Because now they had no shortage of oxygen at the lower altitude. The pilots could now turn the plane towards the airport again. The pilots again contacted ATC and asked ATC which direction they should turn in so that they could reach the airport. The plane was now 55 miles away from Haneda Airport in the North West. This distance was not much. The plane could cover this distance in a short time.

2) Crash

Flight 123 Crash

Now the problem was how to turn the plane in this direction. The first officer moved the throttle forward to reduce the flaps. But by doing this the situation became more serious. The flaps which were giving balance to the plane till now, the same flaps were now rapidly disturbing the balance of the plane. Instead of stopping at a certain point, the flaps kept on extending and the left side flaps had extended too much. Due to which more lift started being generated in the left side of the plane and the plane started turning to the right side after tilting a little.

The tilt of the plane kept increasing and once again the plane started falling down rapidly. The pilots made every possible effort to control the plane. But perhaps destiny had something else in store. The plane was rapidly moving down towards the mountain ranges. The pilots had fully understood that now this plane cannot be stopped from crashing into the mountains. The plane had now come so low that its right wing breaks after hitting a mountain and the plane crashes into the mountains. As soon as it hits the ground, flames of fire start coming out of the plane and touch the sky.

1) After Crash

After Flight 123 Crash

Here ATC was able to seeing the plane disappearing on its radar. ATC tries to contact the pilots. But there is no response from the other side. A Japanese military aircraft was passing through there. Which saw flames rising in the hills. Which they informed ATC. Due to which it was confirmed that Flight 123 had crashed. At the same time, a US Air Force plane was flying from there and they asked the Japanese authorities for permission to rescue the passengers present in that plane.

The Japanese authorities rejected that offer of the US military and told them that we will rescue those passengers ourselves. But here the Japanese authorities make a big mistake. The Japanese authorities felt that perhaps no passenger would have survived in such a big plane crash. Because of this, they did not launch any rescue operation till morning. When the rescue team reached the spot the next morning, they saw that out of 524 passengers, only four passengers were the ones who survived this horrific plane crash.

The survivors told that if the rescue team had reached there shortly after the plane crash, many people could have been saved in this accident. Because there were many people who had suffered serious injuries. If they had received timely treatment, their lives could have been saved. But due to the negligence of the Japanese authorities, those few survivors had to lose their lives. After this accident, many changes were made in the aviation industry. One of them was that if any plane crashes, the rescue team will have to reach the spot immediately.

After this accident, Boeing Company made changes in the design of its planes. The company designed the planes in such a way that in any critical condition, the hydraulic control always remains in the hands of the pilots. Flight 123 was a horrific and heartbreaking plane accident in history.
