People believe that the Bermuda Triangle is a place where any ship or airplane that goes there disappears in this area. You must have heard people saying many times that the sky has eaten them or the earth has swallowed them. But many people believe that there is a place on earth where this really happens. This place is in the west of the North Atlantic Ocean, between Florida in the US, Puerto Rico Island and Bermuda. Now because these three places together form a triangle, this place is known as the Bermuda Triangle.
This place is completely mysterious but the incidents that happen in it are also mysterious. There is no clue about them till date. So in this article we will discuss about 5 such mysterious incidents that happened in Bermuda Triangle.
5) Mystery of Christopher Columbus
The history of the Bermuda Triangle is so old that Christopher Columbus also mentioned it in his diary. It was the year 1492 when Christopher Columbus set out in search of India. At that time, Columbus did not know much about this Western Hemisphere of the Earth. He knew that the Earth is round, so he felt that if he kept moving west in the sea, he would reach India. But this did not happen. Columbus, who set out in search of India, reached America and discovered America.
Before reaching America, Christopher Columbus saw a strange kind of behavior in the sea a few kilometers away from America. There was a commotion in the sea. At night, he saw a strange light in the sky. This light was like a fireball. That fireball was slowly descending from the sky and merged into the sea. When Columbus looked at his compass, the compass needle was moving around. The compass had stopped working at that place and this strange incident happened in the same part of the sea which we know today as the Bermuda Triangle.
4) Mystery of Flight 19
On December 5, 1945, at 2 pm, five torpedo bomber ships of the American Navy took off from Florida for a routine training mission. The purpose of this mission was to train new pilots to drop bombs. The objective of this mission was that the pilots had to drop the bombs on Bahamas Island and then turn left and cross another neighbouring island and come back to the same place from where they had taken off. Everything was going well as per the plan. All the five planes dropped the bombs on Bahamas Island and moved ahead but then suddenly something happened which no one had imagined.
Suddenly the weather turned bad and the pilots panicked because nothing was visible due to the bad weather. Gradually the weather was getting worse. These flights were being led by Charles Carroll Tyler, an experienced pilot of the American Navy. Seeing the bad weather, Tyler decided that he would now cancel this mission and return. But now another new problem arose. The compass of all the planes stopped working. About 3 hours had passed since all these planes flew and now they had only enough fuel to fly for about 1 more hour.
All these planes had now become directionless. Charles Carroll thought that his planes were flying over the Gulf of Mexico. So, to return, he would have to fly in the east direction. But some crew members thought that they were still in the east and they should turn towards the west. They were now lost in the sea and they did not have much time left. Finally, all the planes ran out of fuel and all the planes crashed into the sea one by one.
After these flights disappeared, a search ship with 13 people went out to search for them and while searching for them, it also disappeared. Earlier, 14 people disappeared with those five ships and now 13 more people had disappeared. Now a large scale search operation is being conducted to find these missing ships. But till date, no clue has been found. The part of the sea where this incident took place is known today as the Bermuda Triangle.
3) Mystery of USS Cyclops
About 100 years ago, in 1918, an incident happened in the Bermuda Triangle which caused a great blow to America. This was such a painful incident in history that even today the soul shivers after knowing about it. USS Cyclops was a big cargo ship of America. This cargo ship helped America a lot in World War One. With the help of this ship, they used to send troops and coal here and there in the world.
In March 1918, USS Cyclops had to go from West Indies to Baltimore. There were 306 people on this ship. At that time there was a lot of fear of pirates in the sea. So keeping security in mind, there was also a facility to send distress signal on this ship. Actually, distress signal is sent in an emergency situation for help. When this ship was going to Baltimore, it passed through the Bermuda Triangle on the way and suddenly disappeared. It disappeared in such a mysterious manner that no trace was left behind
The strangest thing was that despite having a distress signal facility on it, no emergency message was sent. Why? This can only happen if there was a sudden problem on this ship and the crew did not get time to send a distress signal. Whatever happened here happened so fast that no one got a chance to react. Till date, no one knows where the 306 people on board and this ship suddenly disappeared. This is still a mystery.
2) Mystery of Alan Austin
In the year 1881, a ship Alan Austin was going from London to New York. When Alan Austin passed through the Bermuda Triangle, he saw an unknown ship floating in the sea. But the strange thing was that there was no person present on this unknown ship. The captain of Alan Austin stayed near this ship and tried to contact this unknown ship for two consecutive days. But there was no response from this ship and no movement was visible on this ship.
The captain of Alan Austin thought that maybe this ship was attacked by pirates and they killed the people on this ship and looted this ship and left. To confirm this, the captain of Alan Austin sent some of his crew members to this unknown ship. When they boarded that unknown ship, they saw a different scene there. They saw that there was no person present on the ship. All the valuable things present on the ship were present as they were. There was no sign of beating or looting on that ship. So it was clear that the pirates did not come on this ship.
Then why was there no person present on this ship? Where did all the people present on this ship disappear without leaving any trace? The captain of Alan Austin decided to bring this unknown ship with him to the shore and instructed some of his crew members to bring this ship with them to the shore. Everything goes well for two days. Both these ships start moving towards the shore together. But after two days a strong sea storm comes. In which this unknown ship goes away from Alan Austin and gets lost in the sea.
For the next few days, the captain of Alan Austin starts searching for this unknown ship in the sea and after a few days he sees this unknown ship floating again. But once again the situation on this ship was the same as before. The crew members who were bringing this ship with them were missing from this ship and the goods present on the ship were as they were.
The captain of Alan Austin again sent some of his crew members to this ship and asked them to bring this ship with them. But again a storm comes in the sea and this ship disappears again and the crew members present on it also disappear. Now the captain of Alan Austin decided not to take this ship with him again and he left that unknown ship there and moved ahead.
1) Mystery of Bruce Gernon
The Bermuda Triangle has engulfed hundreds of planes and ships. Till date, no debris of the ships that have disappeared has been found. Whenever a storm arises in the Bermuda Triangle, the sea swallows everything without leaving any evidence. Now whether it is a very big ship or a plane flying in the sky. But luckily Bruce Gernon is such a person who escaped the fierce storm of the Bermuda Triangle. When he told his story, he surprised everyone.
This is the story of 4 December 1970 when Bruce flew from Andros to Miami. His journey was going to be of 90 minutes. When he took off, there was no movement in the sky. When his plane reached a height of 1000 feet, he saw some clouds in front. He took the plane out through those clouds. But when his plane reached a height of 11500 feet, there was a very big cloud in front of his plane. Bruce had no other way but to pass through this cloud.
The plane had entered that big cloud. As the plane was entering the cloud, darkness was increasing all around. This cloud was so dense that even sunlight was not able to enter it. This cloud was completely different from ordinary clouds. This cloud was neither a tornado nor was it raining. Bruce kept moving forward and he saw that further ahead the cloud started taking a cylindrical shape and started rotating around.
After a few minutes, Bruce saw a way out of the cloud. Bruce started moving towards that path. But that path was gradually becoming smaller and was about to close. The navigation system of the plane stopped working. The compass started rotating around on its own. All the instruments of the plane had stopped working. It seemed as if some invisible force was pushing the plane forward and suddenly the plane came out of that cloud. But still the visibility was a little less. So Bruce was not able to guess the correct location.
The good thing was that the controls of the plane started working again. Bruce tried to contact the ground staff through radio and when he spoke to them, he came to know that he had reached Miami. Bruce could not believe these things. Because the plane had to cover a distance of 400 km. Which was going to take 90 minutes. But only 47 minutes had passed since Bruce took off and how could he reach Miami in half the scheduled time.
Even if the plane Bruce was flying moved at its full speed, it could cover a distance of only 200 km in an hour. So it was impossible for this plane to cover a distance of 400 km in 47 minutes. As soon as the hazy road in front of the plane ended, Bruce saw that he was actually flying over Miami.
Bruce landed the plane safely and after that when he looked at the fuel tank, he found out that very little fuel had been used up. There was still a lot of fuel left in the tank. Looking at the time taken in the journey and the fuel present in the tank, it seemed as if the plane did not cover half the distance and the plane teleported and probably reached Miami. After all, what happened to that plane that it completed the entire journey in just half the time.
