5) Dog

How does a dog see this world? Dogs are red green color blind. Meaning dogs cannot see red and green colors. Dogs see red and green colors only in grey color. Dogs’ eyes see yellow and blue color well. If there is a red ball and a green ball in front of a dog, then the dog cannot tell the difference between the two balls. Both the balls will look the same to the dog. That too in grey colour.

Dogs see the world far away as blurry. The vision of our eyes is 20/20. It means that we humans can see any object clearly from 20 feet away. But the vision of dogs is 20/75. It means that whatever we can see from a distance of 75 feet, dogs will be able to see that clearly from a distance of 20 feet.

The eyes of dogs can detect motion better than us humans. For example, the frequency of electricity coming to our homes is 50 Hz. It means that a light bulb goes on and off 50 times in a second. But our eyes are not able to catch this fluctuation in the bulb and we can only see the bulb burning. But a dog can catch this frequency. A dog can see the light bulb going on and off and dogs can see more clearly than us humans in low light conditions.

You must have noticed that cats are often more lazy during the day and more active at night. Well, the direct reason for this is the vision of cats. Because cats can see more clearly at night than during the day. The night vision of cats is six times clearer than that of us humans. This is why cats like low light conditions more.

You must have often seen the eyes of cats glowing at night. Actually, there is a thin layer behind the retina in the eyes of cats which reflects the light back on the retina. Due to which in low light conditions, the eyes of the cat capture more light and are able to see properly in the dark. Cats are not able to see properly during the day and cats see this world only in blue and gray colors. Cats are not able to see red and green colors.

If this world is seen from the eyes of snakes, then snakes really see this world very different. The eyes of snakes see this world like a thermal sensor. The eyes of snakes have evolved in such a way that they can see only heat. Due to which snakes see the world only in shades of red, orange and yellow. Whether it is day or night, it does not matter to snakes. Snakes detect the heat of their prey and make it their food. If any cold thing is kept in front of the snake, then the snake will not know about it.

If we talk about a Chameleon, then Chameleon also sees this world in color like us. But Chameleon’s eyes have a specialty which is not in the eyes of us humans. Actually a Chameleon can move its eyes independently. Due to which Chameleon gets the advantage that it can focus on two different things at the same time. This ability of Chameleon helps it to protect itself from its predators. Apart from this, Chameleon changes its color according to its environment. Due to which it remains hidden from the predators.

If we talk about an eagle, then the vision of an eagle is eight times sharper than us. An eagle can see this world in much more detail than we humans. The vision of an eagle is much sharper. Due to this, an eagle can recognize the smallest movement on the ground while flying in the sky 3 kilometers away. The eagle has the ability to see UV rays. Which makes the eagle a dangerous hunter. Actually, urine contains urea. Which glows in UV light. So the eagle detects the traces of urine of a rat running on the ground and sees it flying in the sky.
